Role: Akamai Engineer

Location: Springfield, MO (Remote)

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy new features and functionality.

• Component Ownership: Take responsibility for one or more components within Akamai's Web Security platform.
• Network & Protocol Expertise: Demonstrate deep understanding of internet protocols (TCP/UDP, TLS/DTLS, HTTP) and network layers.
• Operational Mindset: Embrace a "service always available" philosophy through resilient software design and operational awareness.
• Problem-Solving: Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer-facing network issues.
• Cloud Native Applications: Work with and deploy cloud-native constructs and technologies.

Key Skills & Experience

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in C++ and C.
• Unix/Linux Environment: Strong experience developing and coding within a Unix/Linux environment.
• Networking Fundamentals: Well-versed in how the internet works, including routing, TCP/UDP, TLS/DTLS, and HTTP.
• Agile & SDLC: Experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud-native concepts and deployments.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems
