About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineering Manager to join our team in Georgia, USA. As a key member of our Substance Experience Conveyance group, you will be responsible for building and leading a diverse programming team, driving a culture of ownership and excellence, and overseeing the development of key services and frameworks. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with partners, product and program managers, and engineers across Disney Streaming associations to deliver exceptional client experiences and enable the growth of Disney Streaming products worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining a diverse programming team: training, career development, mentoring, and process improvement.
  • Leadership and technical vision for applications and tools.
  • Collaboration with product managers and other colleagues to prioritize work and set goals for the team.
  • Refining software engineering practices and maintaining operational excellence.
  • Ingenuity, awareness, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move quickly and adapt to meet the changing requirements of the product.
  • Interest in new technologies and ability to create space for growth and advancement of products and team.

Essential Capabilities

  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • 3+ years of programming experience.
  • Experience engaging diverse talent, building and driving teams.
  • Strong programming skills in an object-oriented language, and a solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.).
  • Experience with event-driven system architectures (responsive design).
  • Reasonable knowledge and significant experience deploying web services in cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience writing unit tests/performing test-driven development processes.
  • Four-year degree in Software Engineering, Data Systems, Computer Science, Electrical or Hardware Engineering, or similar field of study, or potentially equivalent work experience.

Preferred Capabilities

  • Deep involvement in reactive programming on JVM languages. Ideally, Java.
  • Hands-on experience as a support administrator with experience creating and managing visibility frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience managing AWS services with explicit experience using Terraform or other IAC tools.
  • Hands-on experience expanding on and managing distributed NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB, Cassandra, Scylla, and Couchbase.
  • Experience working with remote global teams and an adaptable schedule across various time zones.
