About the Fitness Instructor Role

As a Fitness Instructor at Planet Fitness, you will play a crucial role in operating our group fitness program (PE@PF), creating a class schedule for members, and proactively engaging with them on the club floor regarding their fitness goals. Your responsibilities will include instructing members on how to safely use the equipment, providing support as needed, and helping to promote our Judgement Free Zone by connecting with members and upholding club policies. You will also be responsible for performing prospective member calls and tours, assessing their membership needs, and offering Trainer services. Daily responsibilities may also include greeting members, answering phones, and maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of all exercise equipment and Black Card spa amenities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create a class schedule for members, including Orientation and DYOP (Develop your own program)
• Proactively engage with members on the club floor regarding their fitness goals and instruct them on how to safely use the equipment
• Help to promote our Judgement Free Zone by connecting with members and upholding club policies
• Perform prospective member calls and tours, assessing their membership needs and offering Trainer services
• Greet members and guests as they enter and exit the club, assisting them with any questions or concerns
• Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with their inquiries
• Maintain the cleanliness and sanitization of all exercise equipment and Black Card spa amenities

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• 6-12 months of experience in a customer service environment (preferred)
• Be at least 18 years of age or older
• Willingness to become CPR/AED Certified (Training provided by Planet Fitness)
• Nationally Certified Training Certificate required
• Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the fitness industry or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Knowledge of fitness equipment and programs

Physical Demands of the Role

The Fitness Instructor role requires:

• Continual standing and moving throughout the club to accomplish tasks during shift
• Continual communicating in person or on the phone to exchange information during shift
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Encountering toxic chemicals during shift
• Frequent cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities
• Moving self in different positions, including bending and twisting, to accomplish tasks
