Job Summary As an Operations Research Analyst at United Airlines, you'll play a critical role in developing and implementing innovative solutions to drive business growth and improve employee satisfaction. You'll work closely with our team to analyze complex problems, develop mathematical models, and implement data-driven solutions that drive significant business value. Key Responsibilities: Methodology Development: Design and implement methodologies to define and solve management problems using quantitative analysis and analytical models. Problem-Solving: Identify, investigate, and solve complex problems using data analytics, operations research, and AI principles. Business Process Improvement: Apply knowledge of business processes to identify and implement operations research solutions that drive significant business value. Model Development: Build and maintain operations research/optimization mathematical model applications, providing client support and guidance. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product delivery groups, to ensure successful implementation of solutions. Communication: Present results to management and clients, developing clear and concise stories to summarize findings. Staying Current: Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific techniques and research in operations research and analytics. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Education: Postgraduate education (PhD or ABD) in Operations Research or a related quantitative discipline. Coursework: Coursework or work experience with mathematical programming techniques, model prototyping, and optimization toolkits (e.g., CPLEX, AMPL, or OPL). Programming: Proficiency in structured programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, R, Python). Communication: Excellent business, technical, verbal, and written communication skills. Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders. Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the US. Preferred Qualifications: Minor in Computer Science: A minor in computer science or formal advanced computer science coursework. Professional Experience: 2+ years of experience in an analytical field. Industry Experience: Experience in the airline industry or a related field. Programming Skills: Knowledge of Julia programming language and structured programming for large-scale computer models. Business Value: Demonstrated ability to drive business value through data-driven solutions.
