The Role

As a Data Engineer on our Privacy team, you'll play a critical role in designing and building data pipelines that enable us to handle sensitive customer information with the utmost care and respect. You'll work closely with our security and compliance teams to develop data structures that meet the highest standards of data protection and compliance, and collaborate with our product teams to ensure that our data pipelines are efficient, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and build effective, flexible, and adaptable data pipelines to handle structured and unstructured data

  • Develop a deep understanding of the data ecosystem at blithequark from a privacy perspective
  • Collaborate with the privacy engineering teams to understand product objectives and provide data that enables us to respond to customer and regulatory information requests
  • Maintain and reevaluate existing datasets and pipelines to ensure they meet the highest standards of data protection and compliance
  • Join a talented team of data engineers who are passionate about improving our data protection practices and mitigating legal and regulatory risk

Essential Qualifications

* Strong background in data engineering, with a focus on data protection and compliance

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, or Scala) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Excellent SQL skills, with experience working with large datasets and complex queries
  • Experience designing data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Voila, Flash, Flink) on medium to large-scale datasets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take requirements and deliver flexible data models and pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR, CCPA)
  • Strong understanding of data security and encryption principles
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
