Ordinary Seaman (OS) Job DescriptionThe Ordinary Seaman (OS) co-ordinates with other Seamen, the Bosun, Crane Operators or any other person necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • General vessel maintenance, including safe handling of tools and equipment for surface preparation and the application of paints and solvents.
  • Assisting in machinery spaces as required.
  • Maintenance of emergency equipment and assisting in the maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment as directed by the Chief Officer.
  • Assisting in the launch, recovery and routine daily maintenance of rescue craft.
  • Undertaking duties of Helideck Attendant as directed.
  • Assisting in all matters related to marine operations, including Watchkeeping duties as required.
  • Assisting the Operations Department if requested to do so by the Chief Officer.
  • Performing emergency duties in accordance with the vessel's Muster List / Station Bill.
  • Ensuring that daily activities are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits.
  • Complete other duties and/or projects as required and assigned by management.
Qualifications Education / Training: Qualification requirements are contained in the Vessel Qualifications and Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel. Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and TWIC are required for this position. Skills: Able to speak and understand English. Able to work as a team member.Special Requirements
  • Additional requirements are contained in the Vessel Qualifications and Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel.
  • The OS has the authority to stop ANY activity on the grounds of immediate safety, health and environmental hazards.
