Senior Data Architect- Power BI Modeler

The Senior Data Architect works in all data environments which includes data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation. The Senior Data Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Senior Data Architect is responsible for developing blueprints for all data repositories. Translates business needs into long-term data architecture solutions. Defines, designs and builds dimensional database schemas. Evaluates reusability of current data for separate analyses. Conducts data sheering to rid the system of old, unused or duplicate data. Reviews object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. The data team is migrating data from SQL Server to Snowflake. Your job, as part of the reporting team, will be to update our Power BI environment to use Snowflake as a source and, at the same time, create brand new semantic models to support multiple dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Develop blueprints for all data repositories.
- Translate business needs into long-term data architecture solutions.
- Define, design and build dimensional database schemas.
- Evaluate reusability of current data for separate analyses.
- Conduct data sheering to rid the system of old, unused or duplicate data.
- Review object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access.
- Influence department's strategy.
- Make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components.
- Update Power BI environment to use Snowflake as a source.
- Create brand new semantic models to support multiple dashboards.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience implementing scalable and maintainable Dimensional Data Models to meet business objectives, including construction of Power BI Semantic Models and Dataflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of technical experience in data analysis and data modeling SQL, Power BI and/or SSIS.
- Experience providing expert architecture guidance on Data Warehouse, Data Lake and Modern BI architecture concepts and technologies using Snowflake or Power BI.
- Experience extracting data from a Snowflake environment.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be an innovative thinker with an innate curiosity around data.

- Experience leading projects through entire life cycle, from design, coding, code review and deployment.

- Experience in performing in-depth data analysis to derive insights that drives business outcomes and decisions.
