Xactimate Estimator (Remote, 1099 Independent Contractor)

Job Post — Xactimate Estimator (Remote, 1099 Independent Contractor) — Scope Genius Position: Xactimate Estimator (Remote) Engagement: Independent Contractor (1099) Location: Work from anywhere in the U.S. Compensation: Base pay starts at $50 per estimate, with higher compensation for larger and more complex files. Paid weekly. Volume: Flexible schedule. Typical volume ranges 5–20 estimates per week based on your capacity, performance, and turnaround. About Scope Genius Scope Genius is a fast-growing estimating and claim documentation firm supporting restoration contractors, public adjusters, and property professionals nationwide. We produce carrier-ready Xactimate estimates built on clear scope logic, thorough documentation, and consistent deliverable quality. We operate with a standardized internal system: you receive a complete “Job Packet” (photos + scope notes + supporting documentation), you build a clean Xactimate draft, and our internal QA team provides fast, structured feedback. High performers get steady volume and priority assignments. What You’ll Do You will write reconstruction and/or mitigation estimates in Xactimate based on documentation provided (photos, scope notes, moisture logs when applicable, and supporting detail). Core responsibilities

  • Write accurate, detailed Xactimate estimates aligned with industry standards and reasonable repair methodology
  • Translate Job Packets into clear, defensible scopes with consistent line-item selection and quantities
  • Maintain reliable turnaround (typical 24–48 hours for standard assignments, agreed upon at assignment)
  • Communicate professionally and efficiently when clarification is required (minimal back-and-forth)
  • Deliver files in the required format (e.g., ESX/PDF) through our submission workflow
  • Protect confidentiality and maintain organized, error-free documentation

What “Good” Looks Like Here We are not looking for speed alone. We want estimators who produce work that holds up under scrutiny. You will succeed if you consistently deliver:

  • Strong photo-to-line-item alignment
  • Clean, consistent estimating logic across rooms/materials
  • Appropriate detach/reset, protection, and sequencing detail where warranted
  • Low revision rates because you follow scope notes and internal SOPs

Requirements (Must-Have)

  • 2+ years of hands-on Xactimate estimating experience in reconstruction and/or mitigation
  • Active Xactimate subscription (you provide your own license)
  • Strong knowledge of estimating practices, line-item selection, and pricing logic
  • Familiarity with restoration and carrier documentation expectations (photos, moisture logs, notes)
  • Excellent attention to detail, written communication, and internal consistency checking
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and produce consistent deliverables

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Field restoration background or rebuild construction experience
  • Adjuster or PA support experience
  • IICRC certs (WRT/ASD/AMRT/FSRT) or equivalent restoration training
  • Experience with larger/litigated/disputed files that require tighter documentation

Why High Performers Like This Role

  • Systemized workflow: you’re not guessing what the client wants—our Job Packets and standards reduce ambiguity
  • Fast QA feedback: clear revision notes, not vague criticism
  • Consistent pipeline: steady work is available for reliable contributors
  • Weekly pay cadence: paid on a predictable schedule for approved deliverables
  • Merit-based growth: higher complexity assignments and priority routing for top quality/turnaround

To Apply Please submit:

  • Your resume (or a brief work history summary)
  • Two redacted sample estimates (remove insured names/addresses/claim numbers)
  • A short note answering:
  • Your typical weekly capacity (estimates/week)
  • Your strongest estimate types (water/fire/mitigation/rebuild/exterior/roof, etc.)
  • Your usual turnaround for a standard file

Important Notes (Contractor-Safe Expectations)

  • This is a 1099 independent contractor role. You control your work schedule and work location.
  • You must have your own equipment and Xactimate access.
  • Work is assigned based on availability, quality, and turnaround performance.
