Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter
Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company is a mutual insurance company with over 140 years of experience in property-and-casualty insurance. They are seeking a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter to create strong agency relationships and develop profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for new and renewal business.
Responsibilities
- Engages in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions
- Utilizes established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority
- Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies
- Understands rating methodology and coverage
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Skills
- Ability to follow processes and maintain strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Ability to multitask and solve basic problems
- Flexibility to handle various assignments
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Bachelor's degree in insurance or finance; experience in lieu of a degree acceptable
- AU, INS, or other insurance related certification
