Litigation Associate
Morrison Mahoney LLP is a premier litigation law firm in the Northeast, seeking a full-time Associate Attorney focused on civil litigation and insurance defense. The role involves managing a caseload, drafting legal documents, preparing for court proceedings, and collaborating with clients and colleagues to develop litigation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage your own caseload from inception to conclusion
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests while meticulously adhering to deadlines
- Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials
- Engage closely with clients, experts, and fellow attorneys to devise effective litigation strategies
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and writing memoranda to bolster case strategies
- Ensure smooth case management alongside seasoned partners and senior attorneys
Skills
- You must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to the Connecticut State Bar or have an adequate UBE score for admission to the jurisdiction
- You should have 1 to 5 years of litigation experience preferably in insurance defense or closely related practice area
- Clerkship experience is considered a valuable asset
- Proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions is vital
- Strong capabilities in performing thorough legal research and responding effectively to discovery requests
- Strong advocacy skills will be crucial as you assist in mediations, arbitrations, trials, and hearings
- Attention to detail, prioritization skills, and effective communication are key attributes for success in this position
