About the Role

As a Privacy Compliance Specialist, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that Amazon's shopping services comply with global privacy obligations. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including engineering and service teams, to review and resolve privacy-related issues, develop and improve processes, and maintain the highest standards of privacy compliance. This role is not just about managing compliance; it's about innovating and enhancing the privacy experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive privacy compliance reviews and make determinations related to Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR), Deletion, and Retention for a wide array of technical products, devices, and services.
  • Identify and manage privacy-related issues, escalating them as necessary and communicating effectively with leadership.
  • Develop, improve, and maintain procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for privacy reviewers, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across privacy, legal, policy, and engineering teams to establish sound protocols for managing evolving privacy obligations.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of privacy review processes, mechanisms, and tooling, driving innovation in privacy compliance.
  • Support cross-functional projects aimed at addressing emerging global privacy obligations, ensuring Amazon remains at the forefront of privacy compliance.
  • Audit services and drive remediation efforts to ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate and remediate Policy Engine reports, ensuring that privacy obligations are met. A Day in the Life

In this dynamic role, you will spend your days working closely with engineering and service teams to review Amazon Shopping services for compliance with global privacy obligations. You will be instrumental in identifying and resolving issues related to data usage, retention, and customer rights. A significant part of your role will involve developing mechanisms to ensure a consistent privacy experience across Amazon's vast ecosystem, working with partner teams, and driving improvements in privacy processes and tooling. Qualifications & Skills Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in information security, privacy, compliance, or risk management, or a role with comparable experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in an information security, privacy, compliance, or risk management role, particularly within the technology industry.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a global, large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience communicating effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in assessing risk and compliance against internal policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant privacy certifications such as CIPP-US, CIPP-EU, CIPM, CIPT.
  • Experience working with worldwide regulatory requirements for privacy and mitigating privacy risks.
  • Proven analytical capabilities, with experience in developing reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Experience communicating effectively with engineering and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an internal customer-facing role, supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.

The base pay for this position ranges from $99,900/year to $164,800/year, depending on the market.
