Associate Consultant/ Source Code Expert This role serves as a Forensic IP Engineer, working at the intersection of software engineering and intellectual property litigation to uncover critical evidence in patent disputes. In this role, you will perform in-depth source code reviews across multiple programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java, Objective C, Python, and JavaScript, acting as a technical investigator to identify how key functionalities are implemented in software products. This position requires travel to onsite locations throughout the US to conduct source code examinations for patent and intellectual property litigation cases. As a forensic engineer, you will analyze codebases to trace functionality, document technical evidence, and create comprehensive reports, including detailed function call summaries, that demonstrate how critical software features operate. Your technical findings will directly support legal teams in building their cases. Key Responsibilities: Source Code Investigation & Onsite Reviews:

  • Work on projects involving comprehensive source code review across multiple programming languages (C, C++, C#, Java, Objective C, Python, JavaScript)
  • Travel onsite to review source code at client locations across the US, conducting forensic analysis/ Source Code Reviews to uncover critical evidence. Please note that this role requires at least 50% travel.

Legal Collaboration & Technical Consulting:

  • Consult with attorneys, litigators, and technical experts on patent and technical litigation cases
  • Help build and support technical infringement theories that form the foundation of patent litigation strategies
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, legally-relevant insights

Evidence Analysis & Documentation:

  • Perform detailed patent and software source code analysis to identify infringement patterns
  • Prepare Evidence of Use (EoU) reports demonstrating how claimed functionality is performed by accused software
  • Create comprehensive function call summaries and technical documentation that trace how key features are implemented

Client Communication & Project Delivery:

  • Own complete communication with clients regarding technical deliverables
  • Provide timely reports to project managers and clients, ensuring transparency throughout the investigation
  • Execute assigned tasks within stipulated timelines while maintaining high-quality forensic analysis standards

Skills / Attributes Required

  • 1-4 years of IP and Software industry experience
  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as JAVA, C++, C, C#, Objective-C, Python or JavaScript is a must
  • Knowledge of web, mobile, and enterprise software products and services is preferred
  • Knowledge of hardware programming languages such Verilog or VHDL is a plus
  • Experience in Software Architecture, App development, and debugging is a plus
  • Ability to undertake software/firmware reverse engineering is a plus.
  • Capability to understand complex/cutting-edge technologies and ability to explain them accurately in an easy to understand manner.
  • Excellent content writing skills and solid verbal communication skills
