About the Role:

The High Speed Systems Engineering Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the development and optimization of high-speed systems within our business services sector. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in engineering principles, allowing the intern to contribute to real-world projects that enhance system performance and efficiency. The intern will collaborate with experienced engineers to analyze system requirements, conduct simulations, and assist in the design of innovative solutions. By the end of the internship, the candidate will have gained valuable insights into the engineering process and the impact of high-speed systems on business operations. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to bridge academic knowledge with practical application in a dynamic work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of high-speed systems and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software tools for simulations and analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or project experience related to systems engineering.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Assist in the analysis and design of high-speed systems to meet project specifications.
  • Conduct simulations and tests to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to document findings and present recommendations for system enhancements.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and contribute ideas for innovative solutions.
  • Support the engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.

SKILLS

The required skills will be utilized daily as the intern engages in hands-on projects that require analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in engineering software will enable the intern to conduct simulations effectively, providing insights into system performance. Collaboration skills will be essential for working with team members, ensuring that ideas and findings are communicated clearly. The preferred programming skills will enhance the intern's ability to automate tasks and analyze data efficiently. Overall, these skills will contribute to the intern's success in delivering impactful solutions within the high-speed systems engineering domain.

EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION

  • US Citizenship is required.

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Depending on the duties assigned, the work environment could either be an office space, laboratory, or a mix of office and laboratory. If laboratory work is required, all safety guidelines must be strictly followed. Telework may also be appropriate in some situations if permitted by the sponsor. Telework will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

TRAVEL

  • Travel is not anticipated, but if performed will be under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
