We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer - COBOL to support the enhancement, modernization, and ongoing maintenance of a insurance application. Our system landscape includes long-standing COBOL-based applications as well as newer Java-based solutions. In this role, you will work on both legacy and modern platforms, helping ensure continuity, stability, and future readiness of our business-critical systems.

Job Description:
  • Maintain, enhance, and optimize existing COBOL applications running on mainframe environments.
  • Participate in the migration or modernization of legacy COBOL systems and related technologies.
  • Ensure the quality and reliability of applications through code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Several years of professional experience in software development and maintenance with online and batch programs on mainframe using COBOL, VSE, VSAM and CICS
  • Good knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL)
  • Ability to understand and maintain complex existing codebases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and structured working style.
  • Good communication skills in German (Minimum C1)
