Sr. Systems Engineer / Sr. AVD Engineer

The Senior Systems Engineer will design, deploy, and manage our Azure virtual desktop infrastructure. The Senior Engineer will ensure a secure, scalable, and high-performing AVD environment. The Senior Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless user experience, optimize performance and maintain our security standards in a dynamic virtual ecosystem.

Essential Functions

  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration test plans
  • Diagnose incidents encountered in the environment and resolve problems in systems, processes and services
  • Implement servers, storage, and virtual environments
  • Perform security risk, vulnerability assessments and business impact analysis and provide guidance on the application and operations of security controls
  • Create testing plans and the restoration of all infrastructure components including operating systems and infrastructure services for disaster recovery services
  • Work complex research projects as part of an integrated research team
  • Perform system maintenance during after-hours
  • Act as a point of escalation for internal IT teams to support end users  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately convey messages with both technical and non-technical users
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, O365, Azure AD and Exchange Online support
  • Deep familiarity of Azure virtual desktop environments
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Knowledge of FSLogix and storage account troubleshooting and support
  • Knowledge of data center operations
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Able to adapt and respond to changing business needs and priorities
  • Commitment and ability to cultivate a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering or related field preferred; the equivalent amount of experience will be considered in-lieu.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a System Engineer with a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in Azure cloud engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting Windows based applications
  • Recent experience with Enterprise Storage and Desktop Virtualization
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft server technologies
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment

  • Covius offers an extensive benefits package for all employees, including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)!
  • Compensation: $97,600 - $122,000 annualized with a 15% AIP opportunity

Working Conditions

This is a remote position. Employees are expected to maintain a dedicated and professional workspace that supports productivity and confidentiality. This requires reliable internet access and the ability to be on camera to participate in virtual meetings and communications during standard business hours. Work is primarily performed in a home office environment. Flexible work hours may be available, though employees must be able to collaborate effectively across time zones and attend scheduled meetings during core business hours. May require extended periods of computer use and sitting. Occasional travel or in-person meetings may be required based on business needs. Employees must adhere to company policies regarding data security, time tracking, and virtual collaboration.

Physical Demands and Activities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and constantly operate a computer and other office equipment using hands and fingers for fine manipulation, including keyboarding and mouse use. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, such as files and small parcels and/or move boxes weighing up to 15 lbs. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing may be required depending on the nature of the work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to observe objects at close range in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g. computer screen).
