Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 2 - Nuclear

Sargent & Lundy is a trusted leader in nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, focusing on clean, carbon-free energy solutions. They are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 2 to work on multi-discipline engineering teams involved in nuclear power plant projects, integrating electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering with control theory.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a multi-discipline engineering team involved in nuclear power plant Instrumentation and Controls projects
  • Work with electronic process sensors, digital controllers, network topology, touchscreen displays, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines and reactors
  • Prepare specifications for the procurement of instrumentation and control equipment as well as engineering calculations
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for project coordination and field verification of designs

Skills

  • A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems is required
  • A minimum of 1 year of engineering experience or a MS degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Coursework in mechatronics is desired, but not required
