Metsä Board is looking for an

ACCOUNT MANAGER, DACH REGION

to join our Cartonboard Europe sales team. In this commercial role, you will develop long-term customer partnerships, drive profitable growth and strengthen Metsä Board’s position as a leading partner for premium consumer packaging.

This role is home-office based, preferably in Germany, and reports to the Sales Director, Food & Retail Europe.

Your key responsibilities

As Account Manager for DACH region you will

  • Manage existing business, accounts and customer relationships in accordance with account plans and strategy
  • Be responsible for preparation and delivery of all elements of the annual budget or sales plan of a dedicated customer portfolio: volumes, pricing and other top-line added value elements including stock management, payments
  • Identify, develop and record new business / prospecting activity to build an opportunity pipeline, implement actions to convert them into buying accounts and live business
  • Keep the organization abreast of intelligence regarding customer activity, market trends and end use packaging developments
  • Liaise & communicate effectively with other functions in the organization
  • Communicate effectively with upper level sales management, colleagues in sales, customer service, technical service, production, marketing etc. to produce co–ordinated customer approaches including relationship management, pricing, service offering, provision of technical service, marketing concepts
  • Keep abreast and informed of company strategy and policies and implements these into daily activities, planning and actions; maintain a high level of organizational awareness
  • Ensure timely compliance with internal reporting requirements (forecasting, monthly reports etc.); participation in working groups or sales meetings as requested.

What are we expecting of you?

  • A relevant higher education degree or equivalent commercial experience
  • Solid experience in B2B sales and account management in an international environment
  • Background in paper, board, packaging, or related industries is a strong advantage
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage complex pricing and business models
  • Comfortable working with CRM systems, sales reporting tools, MS Office incl. AI-tools like M365 Copilot
  • Proactive, structured, and customer‑oriented with strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in German and English; additional European languages are a plus
  • Willingness to travel within the region and within Europe
