Job description: Sylvan Learning center is looking for an academic, part-time Tutor/Teacher to join our enthusiastic and fun team This position will be responsible for creating a positive, personal learning experience for students by following Sylvan program materials. This role will create a balanced and robust learning experience for students and evaluate student progress on each assignment and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student.

Responsibilities:
- Greets students in a welcoming and friendly manner
- Initiate instructions to personally engage each student
- Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
- Manage students, tasks and time to create a balanced and robust instructional, educational session
- Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment
- Manage the conclusion of each instructional session, completion of learning logs and transition activities
- Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
- Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed
- Able to Engage, motivate and inspire students to learn
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
- Strong problem solving and customer service skills
- Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers:
- Four-year degree or equivalent preferred
- State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (Current or expired)
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (Preferred for reading teachers)
- Math Program Teachers:
- Four-year degree required or equivalent to experience in college level math
- State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (Current or expired)
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (Preferred for reading teachers)
- Part-Time position
- Monday - Thursday 3:00pm- 8:00pm
- Saturday 9:00am- 1:00pm
- Reports to: Center Director
