SAP Evaluator - California Southern University (Remote)

The SAP Evaluator is responsible for adherence to all internal academic policies and procedures necessary for compliance with external standards as set by accrediting and licensing organizations, state and federal agencies, and other regulatory entities.  The SAP Evaluator will work in conjunction with the re-entry (Admissions, PLA and Student Records) and Student Affairs department stakeholders to ensure a seamless return/continuance of enrollment for the student within the branch and main campuses of the University. The SAP Evaluator is accountable for the end to end online SAP process. The SAP Evaluator provides support to students and internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner to support achievement of the University’s goals and objectives.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain subject-matter expertise with Department of Education SAP policy and follow Standard Operations Procedures and in compliance with University. Accountable for the comprehensive online and branch SAP appeal process; from student initiation to communicating appeal decision to student and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders for data analysis and audit for accuracy to ensure federal compliance with Program Integrity.
  • Interacts with student through all stages of the appeal process; initial appeal submission, facilitate student progress through process, and communication of final appeal decision for active students and withdrawn/dismissed students seeking re-enrollment.
  • Centrally communicate SAP process, including resolution of key stakeholder questions and proactive outreach within the University on SAP related topics. Communicates SAP appeal and SAP review results with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for academic data integrity of student’s SAP status to ensure appropriate academic progression for the student. Provide Appeals Board with accurate data on central source document for appeal determination.
  • Ensure continuous process improvement; through analysis of internal survey results and student issues, evaluate data, make recommendations and implement agreed upon action plans.

Education & Experience (minimum)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years previous Registrar or higher education experience
  • Knowledge of record retention policies and data privacy policies and procedures (FERPA).
  • Knowledge of Federal, state and regulatory requirements and academic policies and procedures.
  • Strong computer software skills, including the experience with a student information system.
