Remote Senior Buyer, Capital Equipment

Our client, a global manufacturing leader, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Remote Senior Buyer specializing in Capital Equipment to join their dynamic procurement team. This fully remote position allows you to leverage your expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and managing the acquisition of major capital equipment, machinery, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies from anywhere in the US. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of global supply chains, strong negotiation tactics, and a proven ability to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms for high-value assets. Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for capital equipment, identifying and evaluating potential suppliers globally. Lead complex negotiations for high-value capital equipment purchases, ensuring optimal pricing, terms, conditions, and delivery schedules. Manage the entire procurement lifecycle for capital expenditures, from initial requisition and supplier selection to contract finalization and delivery oversight. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key capital equipment suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships. Conduct thorough market analysis to understand industry trends, cost drivers, and available technologies relevant to capital equipment. Develop and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and other sourcing documents, evaluating supplier bids and proposals comprehensively. Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and finance teams to define equipment specifications, understand project requirements, and ensure alignment. Monitor supplier performance against contracts, identifying and addressing any performance gaps or issues. Mitigate risks associated with capital equipment procurement, including supply chain disruptions, quality concerns, and contractual disputes. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Track and report on key procurement metrics, including cost savings, lead times, and supplier performance. Stay abreast of best practices in capital equipment procurement and emerging technologies. Manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) procurement activities to ensure operational continuity. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is a significant advantage. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in procurement, with a specialized focus on sourcing and purchasing capital equipment and industrial machinery. Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value capital equipment contracts with global suppliers. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, and related technologies. Expertise in developing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies and RFx processes. Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and spend analysis tools. Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize effectively in a remote setting. Strong understanding of contract law and risk management principles. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is essential.
