L3 Systems Administrator/Remote

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced L3 Systems Administrator to provide advanced technical support, manage complex system issues, and ensure the stability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure. You will act as the highest escalation point for system-related incidents and play a key role in system design and optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Level 3 escalation point for complex infrastructure and system issues
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues across servers, storage, and networks
  • Manage system upgrades, patches, and backups
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
  • Collaborate with L1/L2 support teams and provide technical guidance
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux administration
  • Expertise in system troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and user management
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and logging systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and incident management
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, etc.)

Leadership Expectations

  • Provide technical leadership for complex incidents and problem management
  • Mentor L1/L2 engineers and improve team capabilities
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to operational and security best practices

Experience

  • 6–10 years of IT infrastructure or system administration experience
  • 2–4 years in an L3 or senior support role preferred
