Telecom Network Field Engineer

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking an experienced Telecom Network Field Engineer to join their dynamic team, primarily based in Sacramento, California, US . This hybrid role offers a blend of field operations and remote support, requiring individuals who are comfortable traveling to various sites while also managing tasks from a remote location. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex telecommunications network infrastructure. The Telecom Network Field Engineer will perform site surveys, plan and execute network installations, and ensure the optimal performance of routers, switches, servers, and other network equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving network issues, implementing network upgrades and modifications, and conducting regular performance monitoring. You will work closely with the network operations center (NOC) and other engineering teams to ensure seamless network connectivity and service delivery. Strong documentation skills are essential for maintaining accurate records of network configurations, changes, and incidents. The ability to work independently in the field, as well as collaboratively with remote teams, is critical. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, specifically within the telecommunications industry. Hands-on experience with various networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper), and network monitoring tools is required. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a demanding environment. A valid driver's license and the willingness to travel regularly to client sites are mandatory.
