Job Overview Volunteer Florida will serve as the statewide lead of the Youth Mental Health Corps (YMHC) planning process. Through an 11-month planning grant, Volunteer Florida will design service-to-career pathways that prepare young adults for entry into the behavioral health workforce while expanding youth mental health supports statewide. Volunteer Florida seeks a contractor to lead the external-facing planning, research, and partner engagement work for the YMHC Planning Grant. The YMHC Contractor will be primarily responsible for learning Florida’s behavioral health training and credentialing landscape, engaging partners and AmeriCorps programs, synthesizing findings, and translating input into an implementation-ready YMHC model for a planned Fall 2027 launch. Contract Period: June 2026 – February 2027 Deliverables Begin: June 2026 Engagement Type: Independent Contractor Anticipated Level of Effort: Part-time (estimated 15–25 hours per week; varies by phase) Reports to: National Service Director, Volunteer Florida Location: Remote with possible in-person meetings in Florida (including Tallahassee and statewide convenings) Primary duties

  • Lead execution of YMHC Planning Grant external work, including partner engagement and pathway research
  • Conduct behavioral health workforce, credentialing, and training landscape analysis across Florida
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external partners related to YMHC planning, including state agencies, associations, training providers, and workforce entities
  • Design and administer surveys and interviews for Volunteer Florida AmeriCorps subgrantees related to YMHC interest, readiness, and workforce pathways
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable recommendations
  • Draft service-to-career pathway models and YMHC member role concepts
  • Support planning and facilitation of YMHC-focused AmeriCorps convenings
  • Draft assigned components of the YMHC Implementation Plan and supporting materials
  • Participate in regular check-in meetings with Volunteer Florida staff
  • Submit monthly invoices and deliverables aligned to approved milestones

Secondary duties

  • Support Volunteer Florida staff in preparing materials for the YMHC Implementation Grant application
  • Assist with drafting YMHC pathway language for inclusion in Volunteer Florida AmeriCorps funding guidance
  • Support development of technical assistance frameworks for future YMHC host sites
  • Document planning decisions, risks, and recommendations for implementation transition
  • Participate in closeout activities and final reporting

Qualifications

  • Experience leading complex planning initiatives in workforce development, education, or human services
  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, youth mental health, or paraprofessional credentialing pathways
  • Strong facilitation, research, and synthesis skills
  • Ability to manage timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables independently
  • Familiarity with AmeriCorps or state-level service programs preferred
