If this sounds like an environment where you can thrive, keep reading ! We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support Agile delivery within a mission-focused, enterprise environment. This role enables cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, incremental solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and stakeholder outcomes. The Scrum Master serves as a servant leader and facilitator, guiding teams in the disciplined application of Scrum practices while promoting transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Product Owners, technical teams, and stakeholders, this individual ensures backlog clarity, sprint focus, and measurable progress toward program objectives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, for 1-2 Agile teams.
  • Support teams operating in mid- to moderately complex environments by reinforcing Agile principles and good delivery practices.
  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy, well-groomed backlog, assist with story sizing, and support prioritization discussions.
  • Encourage thoughtful conversations around scope, timelines, and dependencies to help the team make informed delivery commitments.
  • Identify impediments and work collaboratively with stakeholders or other teams to support resolution.
  • Use Agile metrics such as velocity, throughput, cycle time, and burndown trends to help teams understand performance patterns and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Agile Accelerator, or similar platforms) to provide transparency into sprint progress and overall delivery health.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture focused on accountability and continuous learning.
  • Help establish and reinforce team norms and working agreements that support consistent delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted Agile resource to team members and stakeholders, promoting open communication and shared ownership.
  • Support cross-team coordination and help manage dependencies where applicable.
  • Leverage feedback from retrospectives and team discussions to promote incremental process improvements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience serving as a Scrum Master or in a dedicated Agile facilitation role supporting software or systems delivery teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Scrum execution for one or more cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Practical experience supporting Agile teams in Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with backlog refinement, story estimation techniques (e.g., Planning Poker, relative sizing), and sprint planning practices.
  • Experience using Agile management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Agile Accelerator, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to interpret Agile performance metrics (e.g., velocity, throughput, cycle time, burndown) and communicate insights in a constructive manner.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams and client stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing team impediments.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

  • Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar Agile certification is preferred.
  • Exposure to scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe) is a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
