Freelance Offline Captioner & Subtitle Editor (Prerecorded Meetings)

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Freelance Offline Captioner & Subtitle Editor to join our dynamic team in enhancing the accessibility and clarity of prerecorded meetings. In this role, you will transform raw audio recordings into accurate, well-formatted captions and subtitles that improve comprehension for diverse audiences worldwide. Your expertise will ensure that every meeting’s content is faithfully represented, engaging viewers with clear, professional text that adheres to style guidelines and linguistic precision. Responsibilities

• Transcribe recorded meetings accurately, capturing spoken content verbatim or as specified
• Edit captions and subtitles to ensure clarity, timing synchronization, and adherence to style standards such as the Chicago Manual of Style
• Proofread all text for grammatical correctness, spelling, punctuation, and consistency in English language usage
• Format subtitles and captions to meet technical specifications for various platforms and media formats
• Implement translation or localization adjustments when necessary to reach global audiences effectively
• Review and revise captions based on client feedback or quality assurance checks
• Maintain organized records of all projects, including version control and detailed documentation of edits made

Experience

• Proven experience in editing, transcription, or captioning for prerecorded multimedia content
• Strong command of the English language with excellent writing skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with captioning software tools and subtitle editing platforms
• Knowledge of transcription best practices and industry standards such as the Chicago Manual of Style
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects efficiently
• Prior experience in translation or multilingual captioning is a plus but not required
• Demonstrated proficiency in typing quickly and accurately under tight deadlines
