Freelance Illustrator – Character Art & Pattern Design

THE ROLE Polygroup, a leading consumer products company, is seeking a talented Freelance Illustrator (up to 24 hours per week) to support our Creative Team. We’re looking for a strong illustrator with a focus on character art and pattern design who can bring originality, personality, and production-ready thinking to our products. This is a unique opportunity to apply your illustration skills to a wide range of products, including inflatable toys, water slides, pool floats, and Christmas yard décor. You must be dependable, self-motivated, open to constructive feedback, and demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude with strong organizational and communication skills. Reporting to the Art Director, you will collaborate closely with Product Development teams in the U.S. and Asia, supporting the company’s seasonal brands. You’ll manage illustration projects from concept to final production, contributing to seasonal launches. Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced environment are essential. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: - Develop original character artwork, graphic elements, patterns, and color palettes for consumer products - Create innovative illustration styles that translate effectively to physical products - Contribute to and develop brand style guides - Prepare press-ready production files for printing - Maintain attention to detail while meeting deadlines - Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and timelines Requirements & Skills: - Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide drawing range, including vector character art and pattern design - Degree in Illustration or minimum 2 years of professional illustration experience - Strong conceptual skills and awareness of current design trends - Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop - Toy or consumer product experience preferred - Experience with product design, structural design, or 3D rendering is a plus - Remote/offsite. - This freelance opportunity has the potential to evolve into a part-time role with the company. - Applicants must reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States Please send your resume, portfolio and hourly rate.
