Finance Operations Analyst (Revenue & Payroll)
New Home Star is the largest privately owned new home sales company in the U.S., and they are seeking a Finance Operations Analyst to support their finance team. The role involves managing the workflow from deal approval to payroll and accounting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Fully own the end-to-end workflow from deal funding → commission calculation → payroll input → accounting entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Validate and reconcile deal data, payouts, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Support end-to-end payroll processing from CRM to Payroll System (ADP)
- Record and reconcile journal entries related to commissions, payroll, revenue, and expenses in Oracle
- Maintain and improve trackers for payroll, commissions, and deal activity
- Review and aggregate expense reports and company credit card activity
- Maintain accurate records of payments, receipts, and supporting documentation
- Assist with invoicing, billing, and data entry related to financial operations
- Perform regular data audits and 'data scrubs' to ensure system accuracy
- Identify inefficiencies, recurring issues, and manual work in current workflows
- Leverage data, tools, and AI-driven solutions to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort
- Build and improve processes using Excel, systems, and automation
- Help create scalable workflows that reduce errors and manual effort over time
- Partner with sales leaders, managers, and agents to resolve questions and discrepancies
- Serve as a key point of contact for commission and payout-related questions
- Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution
Skills
- Must work in-person two days per week in the Elmhurst, IL corporate office
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (including formulas, lookups, and working with large datasets)
- Exposure to accounting, payroll, or financial systems (ADP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.), whether through coursework, internships, or professional experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
- Comfort learning and using new tools (including AI and automation) to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work in-office two days per week (Elmhurst, IL)
