About Our Corporate Real Estate Division

Our Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team at arenaflex is responsible for the strategic management of all real estate assets, leases, and related financial transactions. As part of the Management – South East Practice, we support internal stakeholders across the company's financial reporting functions. The Lease Accounting Team is at the heart of this operation, ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting for all real estate assets, leases, and consolidated lease arrangements.

Position Overview

As the Lease Accounting Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all lease accounting activities, managing a team of 5 dedicated professionals, and ensuring compliance with both ASC 842 and IFRS accounting standards. You will lead the preparation and review of loan book entries for global transactions, manage quarterly close activities, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting issues.

This role requires a unique blend of technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and business acumen. You will serve as the primary point of contact for lease accounting matters and work closely with Finance, Real Estate, Lease Administration, and Legal teams to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5 accounting professionals responsible for lease accounting activities, ensuring compliance with ASC 842, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of loan book entries for global transactions, including collections, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare account balances and detailed explanations for changes associated with lease accounts during quarterly closings.
  • Compile and review quarterly 10Q/K ASC 842 reports and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead the quarterly SOX Audit Team to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all real estate, asset, and loan transactions.
  • Manage a 3-person team responsible for paying all Real Estate Operating Expenses (REO) on time and accurately.
  • Oversee the company's quarterly CRE coverage, including totals, margins, exposure financial statements, reasons for change analysis, and volatility assessments.
  • Drive efficiency improvements through continuous monitoring and enhancement of existing processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in loan accounting standards and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Contribute to various strategic projects, including Tririga (Lease Management/Accounting Software) enhancements, S4/Hana implementation, and other corporate initiatives.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor team members to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with Finance, Real Estate, Lease Administration, and Legal teams to interpret accounting records and resolve issues or complaints.
  • Special Support and Services Manager responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in accounting with a minimum of 3 years in accounting roles and at least 2 years in a leadership/management capacity.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated understanding of internal controls, control environments, and accounting systems (SAP experience is highly preferred).
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of leading by example and driving teams toward achieving objectives.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and a highly professional "customer service orientation."
  • Ability to interact with and influence all levels of management, both within and outside the organization.
  • Strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with lease accounting software such as Tririga.
  • Knowledge of S4/HANA implementation processes.
  • Previous experience in the entertainment, media, or technology industries.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and audit procedures.
  • Advanced certification such as CPA, CMA, or CFA.
