With a heritage of innovation, safety, and relentless customer focus, arenaflex continuously invests in cutting‑edge technology platforms that empower both travelers and employees. As part of our commitment to digital transformation, we are expanding our remote engineering teams to build the next generation of API‑driven products that power real‑time customer interactions, loyalty programs, and operational excellence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Product Engineer to join arenaflex’s Remote API & Integration team. This role is a blend of product ownership, technical design, and cross‑functional collaboration. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and engineering squads, translating strategic objectives into precise technical specifications, driving API development, and ensuring robust, scalable solutions that meet the highest standards of performance and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business analysts, product managers, and senior leadership to elicit, prioritize, and document detailed API requirements that align with arenaxflex’s strategic roadmap.
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs that enable seamless data exchange across internal systems, third‑party partners, and mobile/web applications.
  • Lead the creation of comprehensive API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger), data models, and contract‑first designs to ensure consistency and reusability.
  • Develop automated test suites using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or custom frameworks to validate API functionality, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with the QA and DevOps teams to integrate continuous testing and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) for rapid, reliable releases.
  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of API products, from concept through production, including versioning, deprecation strategies, and documentation updates.
  • Facilitate regular product and sprint ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings, ensuring clear communication of goals and progress.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, code quality, and best practices.
  • Monitor production APIs using observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and proactively address performance bottlenecks or incidents.
  • Champion security best practices, including OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting, and data encryption, to protect sensitive customer information.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, recommending architectural enhancements, tooling upgrades, and process optimizations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience designing, building, and maintaining large‑scale APIs in a complex, enterprise environment.
  • Proven expertise with API design standards (OpenAPI/Swagger), API gateways (Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway), and integration platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (Java, C#, Python, Node.js, or Go) and familiarity with microservices architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with automated testing frameworks for APIs, including unit, integration, and contract testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and comfortable working in a fully remote environment with flexible hours.
  • Commitment to safety, data privacy, and compliance standards (PCI‑DSS, GDPR, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a technical discipline.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of event‑driven architectures, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and streaming APIs.
  • Previous work in the aviation, travel, or hospitality industry, understanding of airline reservation systems and loyalty programs.
  • Certification in API Management (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft) or relevant security credentials (CISSP, CISM).

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex business problems and devise elegant technical solutions.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product, design, operations, and support.
  • Leadership: Experience leading technical discussions, driving consensus, and mentoring peers.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑changing environment, shifting priorities, and emerging technologies.
  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Deep empathy for end‑users, ensuring that API designs enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to documentation, testing, and compliance requirements.
