The Trust & Safety (T&S) organization sits at the heart of this effort, driving policy, technology, and operational excellence to keep the platform trustworthy and resilient.

Role Overview – Senior Director, Global Head of Adversarial Abuse & Analytics

We are seeking a visionary senior leader to own the end‑to‑end strategy, execution, and measurement of adversarial abuse detection and mitigation across arenaflex’s global ecosystem. This is a remote‑first position that offers a competitive hourly rate of $24 per hour and the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with cross‑functional teams worldwide. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Product and Engineering and partners closely with Product, Engineering, Global Operations, and Policy teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute a multi‑year roadmap for adversarial abuse detection, prevention, and response, aligning with arenaflex’s broader Trust & Safety objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead a global, 24‑x‑7 team of analysts, data scientists, and engineers, fostering a high‑performance culture that values curiosity, rigor, and collaboration.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Anticipate emerging threats (e.g., generative AI‑driven scams, coordinated account takeovers) and design proactive detection frameworks.
  • Data‑Driven Insights: Oversee the collection, cleaning, and analysis of massive data sets to surface abuse patterns, quantify impact, and inform product decisions.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnerships: Work hand‑in‑hand with Product, Engineering, Policy, and Global Operations to translate analytical findings into actionable product features and policy updates.
  • Reporting & Transparency: Produce clear, concise transparency reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators, highlighting trends, response times, and remediation outcomes.
  • Incident Response: Lead rapid‑response initiatives for high‑severity abuse incidents, coordinating with legal, communications, and security teams.
  • Innovation & Tooling: Champion the development of next‑generation ML models, automation pipelines, and dashboards that empower analysts to work faster and more accurately.
  • Talent Development: Mentor senior analysts and emerging leaders, building a pipeline of expertise in abuse analytics and risk management.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish KPIs, SLAs, and continuous‑improvement processes to ensure the team meets global standards for speed, accuracy, and impact.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience leading risk‑focused initiatives at scale, including abuse detection, fraud prevention, or security analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and machine‑learning models that drive real‑world product outcomes.
  • Proven track record of managing distributed, high‑tempo teams that operate across multiple time zones and handle on‑call rotations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience interrogating large, noisy data sets to uncover hidden patterns of malicious behavior.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, capable of influencing senior leadership and building consensus across diverse functional groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline such as Machine Learning, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages and tools (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Background in investigating large‑scale datasets for anomalies, fraud, or policy violations.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in combating malicious activity, including spam, account takeover, and coordinated inauthentic behavior.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and transparency reporting requirements in the digital media space.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑changing environment, balancing short‑term operational demands with long‑term strategic vision.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Acumen: Deep expertise in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and data visualization.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands‑on experience with SQL, data‑warehouse concepts, and at least one scripting language (Python, R, or MATLAB).
  • Leadership & Influence: Strong people‑management capabilities, with a focus on coaching, performance development, and inclusive team building.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate complex data insights into clear product and policy recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Proven success partnering with product managers, engineers, policy experts, and global operations teams.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, capable of crafting executive‑level presentations and detailed technical documentation.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a 24‑x‑7 operational model, including occasional weekend on‑call rotations.
