While relocation is not required, you will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across multiple time zones, contributing to research, tooling, and policy initiatives that safeguard AI systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Core Assets & Tooling: Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines, annotation frameworks, and evaluation dashboards that enable systematic detection of bias, toxicity, and other safety concerns in generative AI outputs.
- Collaborate with Product Teams: Partner with arenaflex product groups to embed responsible AI practices early in the development lifecycle, ensuring that reliability, fairness, and transparency are baked into every feature.
- Drive Research Projects: Contribute to or lead applied research initiatives that push the state‑of‑the‑art in AI risk assessment, including novel metrics for fairness, robustness, and content moderation.
- Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Work alongside applied researchers, ethicists, linguists, and software engineers to tackle complex sociotechnical challenges that extend beyond pure algorithmic solutions.
- Data Curation & Annotation: Curate high‑quality datasets, develop annotation guidelines, and oversee the labeling process to ensure consistency and reliability across diverse domains.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present findings and recommendations to internal and external partners, translating technical insights into actionable policy and product decisions.
- Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest academic literature, industry standards, and regulatory developments related to AI ethics, safety, and governance.

- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of the above fields with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with at least 1 year of professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience applying responsible AI principles (fairness, transparency, accountability) in real‑world settings.
- Proficiency in at least one widely used programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, C#, or C/C++.
- Hands‑on experience with large‑scale language models and/or multimodal models, and a strong interest in addressing societal impacts of AI.
- Ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguous problems, and rapidly iterate on new codebases.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) with 6+ years of experience in statistical research, AI safety, or related fields.
- Track record of publishing or contributing to research at the intersection of generative AI and trustworthy AI.
