Holtec International is a company focused on innovative engineering solutions, and they are seeking a Structural Engineer I to analyze various types of structures. The role involves designing containment structures and ensuring they can withstand seismic events, thermal loads, and other factors while collaborating with international teams.
Responsibilities
- Design containment structures, reactor buildings, and support systems
- Ensure structures can withstand:
- Seismic events (earthquakes)
- Thermal loads from reactor operation
- Internal pressure (e.g., accident scenarios)
- Radiation effects over time
- Work with reinforced concrete, steel, and sometimes advanced materials
Skills
- Masters in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering
- In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ETABS, SAP2000, Plaxis 3D, and STAAD.Pro
- Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ACI, ASCE and AISC
- Excellent technical writing, interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Experience in conducting seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses
- Knowledge of geotechnical and geophysical engineering
- Experience in modular design development of SSCs
- Experience working with designers and manufacturers to develop models and drawings; knowledge of software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla and Revit
- Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities
- Doctorate degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
