With a mission to bring heart to every interaction, arenaflex blends human empathy with cutting‑edge data science to deliver personalized, affordable, and accessible health solutions. Our retail pharmacy network spans more than 9,700 locations, and our digital platforms serve millions of customers daily. As we continue to expand our AI‑powered analytics capabilities, we are looking for visionary leaders who can shape the future of patient safety and data‑driven decision making.

Position Overview

The Lead Director of Data Science, Patient Safety Analytics will spearhead a high‑performing team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers focused on developing and deploying AI/ML solutions that proactively identify and mitigate patient safety risks across arenaflex’s extensive pharmacy footprint. This remote‑first role reports to the Senior Vice President of Patient Safety & Pharmacy Operations and partners closely with business leaders, clinical experts, and technology partners to translate complex data into actionable insights that protect patients and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi‑year analytics roadmap that leverages machine learning, natural language processing, and advanced statistical methods to detect safety events in real time.
  • Lead a cross‑functional team of 10‑15 data scientists, analysts, and engineers, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and career development plans.
  • Collaborate with senior business partners to translate clinical and operational challenges into data‑driven problem statements and solution designs.
  • Design, build, and validate predictive models that prioritize high‑impact safety interventions across the pharmacy network.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end data pipeline—from ingestion of structured and unstructured data sources to model deployment and monitoring—ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and internal data‑privacy standards.
  • Develop clear, compelling visualizations and executive‑level presentations that communicate model outcomes, risk scores, and recommended actions to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by establishing rigorous A/B testing, model governance, and post‑deployment performance tracking.
  • Drive innovation by exploring emerging AI techniques (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning) and assessing their applicability to patient safety use cases.
  • Partner with IT and cloud engineering teams to scale analytics workloads on modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) while maintaining cost efficiency and security.
  • Represent arenaflex at industry conferences, webinars, and thought‑leadership forums, positioning the company as a trailblazer in pharmacy safety analytics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related STEM field (required).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the full product development lifecycle (SDLC) for data‑intensive applications, with at least 6 years leading high‑performing analytics teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI, with hands‑on experience in Python, SQL, and at least one major analytics framework (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn).
  • Strong leadership and people‑management skills, including the ability to inspire, coach, and develop technical talent.
  • Proven track record of translating business requirements into scalable data solutions that deliver measurable safety or operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to senior executives, clinicians, and cross‑functional partners.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and experience implementing compliant data pipelines.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, remote or hybrid environments, demonstrating self‑motivation and disciplined time management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics).
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based data platforms (AWS SageMaker, GCP AI Platform, Azure ML) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Background in pharmacy operations, clinical informatics, or patient safety programs.
  • Familiarity with real‑time streaming analytics (Kafka, Flink) and deployment of AI models in production environments.
  • Published research or patents in AI/ML applied to healthcare.
  • Experience leading multi‑disciplinary projects that involve regulatory compliance, risk management, and change‑management initiatives.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to see the big picture, anticipate industry trends, and align analytics initiatives with arenaflex’s long‑term goals.
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong statistical foundation, critical thinking, and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Python, SQL, data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), and modern ML frameworks.
  • Leadership Presence: Confidence to influence senior stakeholders, negotiate priorities, and drive consensus.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work across clinical, operational, and technology teams.
