Position Overview By Light is seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the vision, roadmap, and execution of RangeOS—our next‑generation cyber range orchestration platform deployed across global training environments. This role operates with minimal supervision and requires close collaboration with engineering, cyber operations, program leadership, and multi‑vendor partners. The Product Owner will translate mission needs into actionable requirements, prioritize development, and ensure successful delivery of capabilities that support individual and collective cyber training.

Responsibilities

Define, maintain, and communicate the RangeOS product vision, roadmap, and release strategy. Translate operational, customer, and stakeholder needs into clear, actionable requirements and user stories. Prioritize the product backlog to maximize mission impact, technical feasibility, and delivery velocity. Work closely with engineering teams to ensure alignment between requirements, design, and implementation. Coordinate with cyber range operators, exercise planners, and multi‑vendor partners to validate capabilities and workflows. Support deployment planning, release readiness, and integration across RCS, ECS, and cloud environments. Develop and maintain product documentation, feature briefs, and customer‑facing materials. Serve as the primary voice of the customer, ensuring RangeOS capabilities meet operational training objectives. Analysis and Design Collaborate with engineering to shape solution designs that meet functional and non‑functional requirements. Assess technical tradeoffs, dependencies, and risks across the product lifecycle. Estimate effort and complexity for new features and enhancements. Backlog and Feature Management Write clear, concise user stories with acceptance criteria. Groom and refine the backlog to ensure development teams have well‑defined, ready‑to‑execute work. Validate completed features against requirements and mission needs. Drive continuous improvement in product workflows, usability, and performance. Documentation Internal: Produce clear requirements, user stories, and release notes for engineering and program teams. Process: Maintain product artifacts, roadmaps, and decision logs. External: Develop customer‑facing guides, feature descriptions, and training materials. Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills across technical and non‑technical audiences. Testing & Validation Participate in feature validation, user acceptance testing, and integrated system testing. Ensure delivered capabilities function as intended within cyber range environments. Gather feedback from operators, instructors, and stakeholders to inform future improvements. Required Experience/Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 8570 IAT Level II certification 5+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, or technical leadership roles. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and backlog management practices. Experience working with full‑stack development teams and modern software architectures. Familiarity with cyber ranges, cyber training platforms, or simulation environments. Understanding of orchestrated training events, exercise lifecycle, and multi‑vendor tool integration. Ability to operate across complex environments involving RCS, ECS, cloud, and hybrid deployments. Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes). Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevSecOps practices. Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of REST API design, authentication patterns, and distributed systems. Familiarity with infrastructure automation (Terraform is a plus). Experience supporting government, DoD, or large‑scale training programs. Special Requirements/Security Clearance DoD Top Secret security clearance Up to 10% travel Apply To This Job
