Are you a meticulous, driven, and analytically gifted accounting professional ready to take your career to the next level? arenaflex is seeking a talented Revenue Accounting and Data Analytics Specialist to join our rapidly expanding finance and accounting organization. This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity offering a competitive hourly rate of $28 per hour, with no prior experience required to apply — just a passion for numbers, data, and problem-solving. Whether you are an emerging professional or a seasoned expert, arenaflex welcomes candidates from all backgrounds who are eager to learn, grow, and make an impact.

At arenaflex, we are reimagining the intersection of finance, technology, and data. Our company operates at the forefront of a fast-paced, on-demand economy, connecting millions of customers with the products and services they need every day. As a remote-first organization, we believe that exceptional talent can come from anywhere, and we are committed to building a workforce as diverse and dynamic as the communities we serve. If you are looking for a role that combines the rigor of technical accounting with the excitement of data engineering and analytics, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.

About the Role

As a Revenue Accounting and Data Analytics Specialist at arenaflex, you will serve as a critical bridge between our Technical Accounting, Operational Accounting, Engineering, Product, Finance, Tax, and Legal teams. You will be the go-to expert for revenue-related data, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to design, build, and optimize the systems and processes that power our financial operations.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing large datasets using SQL and Python, conducting in-depth financial analysis, designing complex data flows and system diagrams, and contributing to accounting research and design requirements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and enjoys solving intricate problems at the intersection of accounting and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Technical Accounting, Operational Accounting, Engineering, Product, Finance, Tax, Legal, and other business owners on policies, processes, and programs. Help drive key system initiatives and continuous improvements across the organization.
  • Accounting Data Requirements Design: Develop and design comprehensive accounting data requirements to facilitate the seamless automation of journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes.
  • Process Improvement Leadership: Lead operational improvement initiatives to further streamline revenue tasks and shorten the revenue close calendar, driving measurable efficiency gains.
  • Data Quality Monitoring: Monitor the data quality of journal entries generated through the Revenue Subledger. Design and implement Data Quality checks for identified use cases through accounting requirements design, ad hoc analyses, and new product launches.
  • Revenue Reconciliation Management: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to continuously improve the daily Revenue Reconciliation process and manage reconciliation analysis with support from the analytics team.
  • Product Impact Assessment: Review new product designs presented during internal Financial Compliance reviews and assess their impact on existing accounting requirements or the need for new ones within the Revenue Subledger.
  • Journal Entry Automation: Cross-collaborate with partner teams on journal entry flows for new and existing products, enabling automation through the Revenue Subledger.
  • Monthly Close Activities: Perform monthly revenue accounting close responsibilities, including but not limited to GAAP revenue analysis, cost of revenue analysis, accounts receivable reconciliations, journal entry review, and review of close package deliverables.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis and Projects: Take on special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned, contributing your unique perspective to a variety of strategic initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

We are excited about candidates who bring a blend of technical accounting knowledge, data analytics skills, and a collaborative mindset. While prior experience in a similar role is a plus, it is not required. If you have a strong foundation in US GAAP, a curiosity for data, and a willingness to learn, arenaflex will provide the training and mentorship you need to succeed.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in revenue accounting, data analysis, and/or business intelligence — or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • US GAAP Knowledge: Solid understanding of US GAAP, with specific expertise in ASC 606 Revenue Recognition required. Knowledge of IFRS is a strong plus.
  • SQL Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced SQL skills and the ability to work with large volumes of transactional data.
  • Python Skills: Working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation is highly desirable.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing environments and evolving business needs.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and cross-functional teams, both in-person and remotely.
  • Self-Motivation: A proactive, self-starter attitude with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with revenue subledgers, ERP systems, or financial automation tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Prior experience in a technology, SaaS, or e-commerce company.
  • Exposure to machine learning concepts or advanced analytics techniques.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.

Skills and Competencies for Success

To excel in this role at arenaflex, you will need a unique combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Below are the core competencies we value:

  • Attention to Detail: The ability to spot discrepancies in financial data and ensure the highest level of accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.
  • Technical Acumen: Comfort working with databases, writing complex queries, and using programming languages to manipulate and analyze data.
  • Business Acumen: A deep understanding of how financial processes connect to broader business operations and strategic goals.
  • Collaboration: The ability to work effectively across teams, build relationships, and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: The flexibility to pivot between projects, learn new tools quickly, and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • Initiative: A drive to identify opportunities for improvement and take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
