Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Remote Data Entry – Advanced Level squad. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain sophisticated data pipelines that transform raw, heterogeneous data sources into clean, reliable, and actionable data assets. You will partner closely with data scientists, analysts, product owners, and cross‑functional engineers to solve challenging problems that shape the strategic direction of arenaflex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Architecture: Design end‑to‑end data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) pipelines using best‑in‑class frameworks and cloud services.
  • Data Modeling & Warehousing: Create logical and physical data models, build data marts, and maintain data warehouse schemas that support analytical workloads.
  • Source System Integration: Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data sources, ensuring data quality, lineage, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Tune pipelines for scalability, reliability, and cost‑efficiency on distributed computing platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work hand‑in‑hand with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, maintainable code in Scala, Python, or Java; develop unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests; enforce coding standards and conduct peer reviews.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce comprehensive technical documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks; mentor junior engineers and lead internal workshops.
  • Data Governance & Security: Implement data masking, encryption, and access controls; support compliance initiatives such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate emerging technologies, propose enhancements, and drive adoption of modern data engineering practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing and operating large‑scale data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Scala, Python, Java, with a strong emphasis on functional programming concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
  • Deep understanding of cloud data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Solid foundation in relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL technologies (BigQuery, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into scalable data solutions.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for data quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or advanced certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or big data.
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Automic.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management tools.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines and collaboration with data science teams.
  • Previous work in the retail or e‑commerce sector, understanding of SKU‑level analytics.
  • Public speaking or technical writing experience for internal and external audiences.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect ambiguous challenges, propose data‑centric solutions, and iterate quickly.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable influencing cross‑functional partners without direct authority.
  • Communication: Clear articulation of technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders; creation of concise documentation.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast‑moving environment; embrace new tools, languages, and methodologies.
  • Ownership: Take end‑to‑end responsibility for data products, from conception through production monitoring.
  • Ethical Data Use: Commitment to privacy, security, and responsible data stewardship.
