Responsibilities
Cultivate a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, question, and think critically as scientists. Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and foster active participation. Maintain open and effective communication channels with students, parents, and fellow educators to support student progress and well-being. Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work and assessments, promoting growth and achievement. Establish clear expectations for classroom conduct and safety during lab experiments and field trips, ensuring a supportive and respectful learning environment. Foster a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging by embracing diversity and promoting understanding among students and staff. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including online anti-bias training, to enhance teaching practices and promote inclusivity. Contribute to the school community by leading or participating in extracurricular activities and events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of two years of teaching experience in a middle school setting, with a proven track record of success. Experience with inquiry-based learning methodologies and a commitment to student-centered instruction. Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program is desirable but not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered. Genuine enthusiasm for collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and multicultural school environment.
