What You Will Do as a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing, building, and supporting data engineering solutions that transform how arenaflex operates. Working within a high-performing DevOps culture, you will own your products end-to-end and contribute to a data-driven organization through scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based solutions.

Core Responsibilities

• Partner with Source Data and Product Teams: Collaborate closely with application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support robust analytics solutions that deliver actionable business insights and empower better decision-making across arenaflex.
• Build Cloud-Native Data Pipelines: Lead the development of data migration and engineering solutions using modern Azure services, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, and complementary tools. You will also leverage traditional data warehouse technologies where appropriate.
• Own the Full Development Lifecycle: Take responsibility for every phase of the development process — from architecture and cloud engineering (infrastructure, networking, security, and governance) to ingestion, transformation, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipeline management, performance tuning, deployment, consumption, business intelligence, alerting, and ongoing production support.
• Implement Batch and Streaming Architectures: Design and develop high-performance batch and streaming data pipelines that handle enterprise-scale workloads with reliability and speed.
• Drive Engineering Excellence: Champion coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines across the team. Mentor junior engineers and cross-functional partners, helping to build multi-skilled teams capable of tackling complex challenges.
• Provide Technical Leadership: Operate effectively as both an independent contributor and a collaborative team member, providing technical direction and guidance within a fast-paced, agile environment.
• DevOps Mindset: Be part of a DevOps team that fully owns and supports its products in production, taking pride in operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What You Will Bring to arenaflex

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent professional experience and training.
• Programming Experience: At least 3 years of experience in solution development using agile methodologies and DevOps practices, working within an product-oriented model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
• Data Analysis Expertise: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with SQL-based data analysis, including complex querying, optimization, and data manipulation.
• Technical Toolset: A combination of development, deployment, and support experience across several of the following tools and platforms:
  • Scripting Languages: Python, Spark, Unix Shell, SQL
  • Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake
  • Data Exploration: Azure Data Explorer (networking skills a plus)
  • Cloud Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, Azure Functions
  • CI/CD Pipelines: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform
  • BI and Analytics Tools: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, Grafana
  • Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica
  • Data Governance and Privacy: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming solution development using agile, DevOps, and product-model methodologies, with a focus on designing, building, and deploying large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
• 3+ years of data analysis experience using SQL in enterprise environments.
• 3+ years of full-stack development experience, ideally within the Azure ecosystem.
• 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience (Microsoft Azure preferred), including EventHub, Data Factory, Functions, ADX, ASA, Databricks, DevOps, Blob Storage, Data Lake, Power Apps, and Power BI.
• Prior experience in the aviation or transportation industry is highly valued.

Skills, Certifications, and Attributes

• Demonstrated expertise with the Azure technology stack for data management, ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and consumption-layer creation.
• Strong ability to provide functional direction and architectural guidance within Azure-native cloud services.
• Azure Developer Track Certification (preferred but not required).
• Spark Certification (preferred but not required).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
