Join a team that has received numerous awards for being a top place to work: TruStage awards and recognition Working independently and using specialized expertise, the Claim Litigation Consultant II will investigate, evaluate coverage and liability exposures, negotiate and resolve large and/or complex third-party litigated claim files. Claim Litigation Consultant II will provide credit unions with superior claims service, building and solidifying a strong partnership through proactive professional consultation and delivering optimal solutions to meet their needs on third-party litigated claims. They will also offer consultation on credit union risks and areas for loss prevention as a result of litigation. Collaborate with other claims and product experts to ensure the consistent handling of commercial insurance claims and will be accountable for decision-making regarding the appropriate use of investigators, experts and outside legal counsel. The incumbent will also be accountable for ensuring that recovery processes are integrated into the resolution of their claims. Job Responsibilities: o Proactively manage litigation process on assigned claims to investigate, evaluate, and negotiate to resolution o Decide when external resources will be hired to conduct claim investigations, expert analysis or provide legal services o Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk Management, Actuarial and Legal staff o Proactively provide education and information to business partners and credit unions regarding risks and exposures, operations and efficiencies for credit unions and CUNA Mutual Group o Demonstration of effective interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, analytical and critical thinking skills o Provide timely reporting as dictated by claim handling guidelines o Understanding of applicable statutes, regulations and case law o Demonstrate knowledge of financial services operations o Handle claims in multiple states o Ensure maximum recovery or contribution are pursued Job Requirements o Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience o Minimum of 7 years claims experience with a focus on litigation o Must have demonstrated knowledge of policy coverage and interpretation skills o Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers o Demonstrated problem solving skills. o Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. o Demonstrated ability to work independently, including working effectively in a remote office environment. o Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite and web applications and general computer skills o Some travel required (mediations, trials and credit union visits) o Makes decisions in an informed, confident and timely manner o Strong organizational, time management and decision making skills o Easily adapts to new or different changing situations, requirements or priorities o Adjuster License and Continuing Education as needed o AIC, CPCU or other professional industry education a plus o Project management experience a plus #LI-Remote If you’re ready to help make a difference, apply today.
