[Remote] Accountant

The Accountant role involves supporting high-volume, high-complexity government and commercial contracts, with responsibilities including billing accuracy, invoice preparation, and financial statement analysis.
Responsibilities
- Utilize multiple reports to ensure the accuracy of billing transactions
- Assist with invoice preparation and reconciliation of billing to A/R; Monitor outstanding A/R balances and take appropriate action
- Provide input to policies, systems, and procedures for effective control of billing
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
- Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
- Assist with or lead the month-end/quarter-end close process for assigned businesses or groups
Skills
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 1+ years of billing experience, within Government contracting or a similar industry
- Experience supporting complex billing, accounting, or revenue-related functions
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel as well as proficiency in other Office applications
- Analytical and reconciliation skills within ERP/accounting systems (Deltek Costpoint experience preferred)
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statements
- Ability to independently research and resolve financial discrepancies across cross-functional teams
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines

- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and/or weekend coverage
- Experience with contract types: cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, time and materials
- Experience in supporting internal and external audits related to Government contracts
- Familiarity with supporting budget analysis, forecasting, and reporting within Government contracts
