As a Principal 3D Character Artist, you will be at the forefront of this innovation, leading the creation of stunning 3D characters and collaborating with top talent from around the globe. Position Overview We're seeking an exceptional Principal 3D Character Artist to lead our 3D character art team in a remote setting. As a seasoned expert in 3D character art, you will guide the creation of high-quality 3D assets, manage 3D pipelines, and foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Key Responsibilities

  • Artistic Leadership: Collaborate with internal and external art teams to guide the creation of 3D assets, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.
  • Pipeline Management: Develop, implement, and manage 3D pipelines and workflows, including preparing assets and documentation for external teams.
  • Outsource Management: Partner with outsource studios to establish a scalable and sustainable pipeline, enabling external artists to efficiently support ongoing art and cosmetic development efforts.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve development issues, ensuring milestone goals are met and roadblocks are eliminated.
  • Communication: Communicate status, risks, and changes to leads and team members, hosting meetings and taking detailed notes to create actionable tasks.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide clear, timely feedback and apply final polish to ensure 3D assets meet high-quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with discipline leads to ensure all parts of the pipeline are working effectively.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in a professional game development environment as a 3D artist.
  • External Team Collaboration: 3+ years of experience working with external development teams, with a thorough understanding of the challenges.
  • Game Development Process: Thorough understanding of the game development process and pipelines.
  • Recent Title Release: Shipped at least 1 recent title.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Interpersonal and Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Complex Feature Tracking: Experience tracking complex features and reporting crucial information in a succinct manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership Experience: Experience leading a team of 3D artists.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling, texturing, and rigging software.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with agile development methodologies.

Skills and Competencies

  • Artistic Skills: Strong understanding of 3D character art, including modeling, texturing, and rigging.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling, texturing, and rigging software, such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
