Experienced Remote Part-Time Assistant Apparel Designer – Fashion and Design Expertise for Walmart $26/Hr

As a key member of the design authority team, you will play a crucial role in executing the seasonal design development process, from concept to delivery. Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant Apparel Designer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the design authority team to implement the seasonal design development process, ensuring timely execution of each stage.
  • Researching and identifying trend directions, creating digital concept/mind-set sheets, investigating collections, shopping stores, performing competitive analysis, and pulling and reviewing fabrics, design ideas, and digital show sheets for meetings.
  • Identifying key items with a strong brand identity and implementing the development of initial seasonal design category within the context of the larger assortment and cost structure.
  • Selecting unique artwork and curating seasonal print stories.
  • Working with technical design to ensure proper fit and end-use, and with print design to develop original prints.
  • Collaborating with domestic and direct suppliers essentially and in-person to provide brand design direction and feedback.
  • Designing/creating according to line plans, sales needs, and emerging trends, ensuring timely execution of product development schedule.
  • Creating Artist outlines, fostering tech packs, reviewing and grading 3D bodies, and participating in 3D Force meetings.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as fashion design or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in apparel design, preferably in a remote or similar setting.
  • Proficiency in Adobe AI and PS, Windows PowerPoint, and experience with Browzwear, Lotta, or V-Stitcher.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A creative and innovative approach to design, with a strong understanding of the mass market client and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable:

  • Experience with Artist outlining, tech-packs, pattern decks, and line sheets.
  • Familiarity with the mass market client, with a plus-size client focus being an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a high-speed environment and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box.
