[Remote] Data Movement Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. USPRO is seeking a Data Movement Engineer to support and enhance their enterprise data ecosystem. This role will lead the design, optimization, and support framework for Snowflake-based data solutions while ensuring the robustness and scalability of ETL environments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full lifecycle of Snowflake data operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of data pipelines
- Proactively identify and resolve issues related to data integrity, latency, and pipeline failures
- Translate business and stakeholder requirements into scalable Snowflake data solutions
- Design and implement performant SQL queries, data models, and warehouse configurations
- Build, test, and maintain Snowflake pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and analytics
- Apply best practices for data storage, modeling, and security
- Support and implement advanced features including Change Data Capture (CDC) and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2)
- Leverage modeling frameworks such as Data Vault and dimensional modeling to optimize the data architecture
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of production solutions prior to deployment
- Provide operational support for Snowflake, IBM DB2, and ETL orchestration tools such as Airflow or ESP
- Analyze data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes and preventive measures
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems through validation and reconciliation processes
- Contribute to metadata management, data lineage, and governance initiatives
- Develop and maintain production support playbooks and ticket resolution procedures
- Lead design reviews, mentor junior data engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Communicate technical findings, incident updates, and project timelines effectively
- Document Snowflake processes, job configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
- Participate in on-call and after-hours support rotations as needed
Skills
- Must be located in EST time zone of U.S
- Must be able to travel onsite to New Haven, CT up to 10% as needed
- This position does not provide visa sponsorship, must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake development and data warehouse integration
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, or data analysis
- Minimum of 3 years' experience developing in Snowflake and writing complex SQL queries across different database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
- Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and security management (certification preferred)
- Strong skills in SQL and scripting languages such as Python and Shell
- Experience with cloud database technologies and modern data ecosystems
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, ESP) and version control (Git)
- Hands-on experience with incident tracking tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and CI/CD processes
- Proven success implementing CDC and SCD Type 2 logic using SQL
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data architecture, and frameworks such as Data Vault 2.0
- Ability to work independently, investigate issues proactively, and solve complex technical problems
- Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
Benefits
- This position will be available for >90% Remote/Hybrid work schedule, with periodic travel onsite up to 10%. Candidates should be located in Eastern Time Zone of the U.S., preferably regional to the New Haven, CT with ease in ability to work onsite as needed. (travel expenses will be paid by company)
