[Remote] Senior Product Designer - Design Systems/Rebrand @ Samsara (Remote, Contract)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Academy Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Designer for Samsara, a leader in Connected Operations™ Cloud. The role focuses on providing design expertise for strategic initiatives, particularly in building and scaling design systems to support a major product rebrand, while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the UX for a product area or surface, shipping high-impact designs that unlock significant customer and business value
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering on strategy, planning, and execution
- Work directly with customers to understand their needs, validate designs, and inform strategy
- Provide expertise and knowledge transfer to Samsara's internal design team
- Deliver all agreed-upon project deliverables on time and to spec
Skills
- 5+ years of product design experience designing UX/UI for web and mobile applications
- Strong interaction and visual design skills
- Portfolio and/or case studies showcasing design craft and ability to solve user problems with quantified impact — required to be considered
- Experience building or maintaining design systems at scale; rebrand or brand evolution work a plus
- Experience prototyping in real codebases; comfort working in GitHub
- Proven experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Direct experience designing AI or agentic workflow products strongly preferred
- High craft combined with pragmatic, proactive execution
- Comfortable with 0→1 and early-stage work where the path isn't fully defined
- Self-directed and resourceful — can identify what needs to happen and move it forward without heavy structure
- Refined taste, strong product instincts, and a bias toward solving real customer problems elegantly
- Curious, hands-on, and resilient — able to zoom out strategically and zoom in to deliver polished work
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Figma Make)
