[Remote] Managing Director, Platform Engineering
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Madison-Davis, LLC is a rapidly growing technology organization seeking a Head of Platform Engineering to lead initiatives in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, and developer enablement. This role will oversee a high-performing engineering organization and partner closely with senior leadership to define platform strategy and support long-term business growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Infrastructure Engineering functions
- Define and execute long-term platform, cloud, and infrastructure strategies
- Build and evolve internal developer platforms that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency
- Drive modernization initiatives across cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
- Improve observability, monitoring, reliability, automation, and deployment practices
- Partner with engineering leadership to enhance developer experience and software delivery processes
- Establish engineering standards, governance models, and operational best practices
- Support infrastructure automation, platform self-service capabilities, and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives
- Collaborate with executive leadership on technology strategy, scalability, and organizational growth
- Mentor engineering leaders and help build scalable engineering structures and processes
- Foster a culture of reliability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, site reliability engineering, or related disciplines
- Proven experience leading and scaling engineering organizations
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies
- Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on engineering engagement
- Experience building internal developer platforms or platform-as-a-product capabilities
- Experience operating within high-growth and product-focused technology organizations
- Strong software engineering background using languages such as Python, Go, Java, or similar
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks
- Strong expertise in observability, monitoring, reliability, and operational excellence
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, containers, cloud platforms, and infrastructure automation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences
- Experience with AI-enabled developer tooling, engineering productivity platforms, or automation initiatives
- Exposure to OpenStack, VMware, or hybrid infrastructure environments
- Experience with policy-as-code, governance automation, or security engineering initiatives
- Experience leading cloud transformation or large-scale modernization programs
- Familiarity with multi-cloud or enterprise-scale infrastructure environments
