Application Architect - Brussels
About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Application Architect to support the design, evolution, and integration of enterprise-grade information systems within a European Union institution. The selected consultant will play a key role in defining software architecture, designing scalable solutions, and supporting the implementation of modern application platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain enterprise application architectures. Analyse and improve existing systems and technical landscapes. Define architectural building blocks and integration patterns. Design application APIs and integration services (REST). Produce architecture documentation and technical specifications. Design data models and application workflows. Support implementation of authentication and authorization solutions. Collaborate with development teams in Agile/Scrum environments. Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices. Participate in technical workshops and stakeholder meetings. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 13 years of professional IT experience. Minimum 6 years in software development and information systems. Minimum 6 years of Java web application development. At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Spring Framework and REST APIs. Experience designing complex enterprise systems. Knowledge of: Java 8+, Spring, JPA, Hibernate Oracle Database and SQL REST APIs and microservices OAuth and security concepts Docker, Jenkins, Git, CI/CD UML and Enterprise Architecture Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket Experience with Angular or Kendo UI. Strong communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
