PV Design Engineer - Remote

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Company Summary: This Renewable Energy team delivers end‑to‑end EPC services for utility‑scale solar, battery energy storage (BESS), substations, and grid interconnections across the U.S. The group is recognized as one of the largest renewable EPC organizations in the country, with nearly 10 GWdc of solar and more than 23 GWh of battery storage installed or under contract. The team's renewables model is engineering‑led, with strong in‑house electrical design, power systems, SCADA, and construction support integrated from proposal through commissioning. The team executes large, technically complex Design‑Build projects for utilities, IPPs, and renewable developers, emphasizing constructability, safety, and schedule certainty. They are looking to bring on a remote PV Design Engineer experienced in delivering 1-500+ MW solar PV and BESS projects at low- and medium-voltage levels, applying standard engineering practices with sound judgment while working independently on routine tasks, receiving guidance on complex issues, and undergoing QA/QC review for technical accuracy and professional judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform progressively independent electrical design for commercial and utility‑scale PV projects, producing complete construction drawings (MV/LV AC & DC, grounding, DAS, site plans, equipment layouts).
  • Prepare and execute supporting electrical calculations, including conductor, conduit, equipment, OCPD sizing, and voltage drop / power loss analysis.
  • Assemble, coordinate, and deliver design drawings and documentation while adhering to internal QA/QC, CAD standards, and engineering workflows.
  • Support projects through design and construction by attending meetings, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, addressing AHJ comments, and conducting site visits as needed.
  • Ensure full compliance with NEC, NESC, and state codes while collaborating cross‑functionally with project managers, CAD leadership, and mentoring junior designers.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Engineer-in-Training Certification (EIT)
  • 4-6 years working for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor. Solar electrical systems background
