Job Overview

arenaflex is seeking a highly motivated Remote Data Engineer to support the Data Engineering (DE) team within the broader Data Science & Innovation (DSI) organization. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that enable seamless data flow from source systems to analytics platforms. You will also own data entry processes, ensuring data quality, compliance, and timely delivery of datasets that power predictive models, reporting dashboards, and strategic decision‑making across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL (Snowflake, PostgreSQL), Python, and orchestration tools.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Establish data validation rules, perform data profiling, and maintain data lineage documentation to guarantee accuracy and compliance.
  • Source‑to‑Target Mapping: Gather business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and create detailed source‑to‑target mapping documents.
  • Schema Design & Management: Build and evolve data models, tables, and views that support analytics, machine‑learning, and reporting workloads.
  • Automation & Scheduling: Develop and maintain automated job schedulers (e.g., Airflow, Prefect) to ensure reliable pipeline execution across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to understand data needs and deliver timely solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct query tuning, index optimization, and resource allocation to improve pipeline efficiency and reduce latency.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and best‑practice guides for internal stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows, adopt new technologies, and enhance the overall data ecosystem.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience building and supporting ELT/ETL pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL, with demonstrated expertise in Snowflake or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong Python programming skills, particularly for data manipulation, API integration, and pipeline orchestration.
  • Experience working with version‑control systems such as GitLab or GitHub, including branching strategies and pull‑request workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and basic DevOps concepts for building reproducible environments.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
  • Excellent analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud‑native data services like Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
  • Knowledge of big‑data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and experience handling large‑scale datasets.
  • Background in data security, compliance (GDPR, CCPA), and data masking techniques.
  • Prior work in the entertainment, media, or hospitality sectors, especially within a global brand.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Mastery of SQL, Python, and data pipeline frameworks; ability to quickly learn new tools and languages.
  • Problem‑Solving: Systematic approach to diagnosing data anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges.
  • Collaboration: Team‑player who thrives in cross‑functional environments, building trust with data scientists, product owners, and infrastructure engineers.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, remote setting with shifting priorities and evolving business needs.
  • Quality Focus: Commitment to data integrity, documentation, and reproducibility of pipelines.
  • Continuous Learning: Passion for staying current with industry trends, emerging cloud services, and best practices in data engineering.
