Join arenaflex as a Remote Bookkeeping Software Customer Support Specialist

Are you a bookkeeping professional with a passion for problem-solving and a deep understanding of accounting software? arenaflex is looking for experienced, independent contractors to join our expanding customer support team. In this role, you will leverage your accounting expertise to assist customers navigating the complexities of modern bookkeeping platforms, answering their most pressing questions about ledger entries, financial reconciliation, software navigation, and general troubleshooting. If you thrive in a remote environment and enjoy helping others master the tools that power today’s small businesses, this opportunity is built for you.

The accounting software industry is growing rapidly, and with it, the demand for knowledgeable support professionals who can speak the language of debits, credits, journal entries, and reconciliations. At arenaflex, we connect skilled contractors with customers who need real, human guidance to keep their books balanced and their businesses running smoothly. This is not a scripted call center job — it is a chance to use your accounting background to deliver meaningful, high-impact support from the comfort of your home office.

What You’ll Do in This Role

As a Bookkeeping Software Customer Support Specialist at arenaflex, you will serve as a trusted resource for customers using accounting and bookkeeping software platforms. Your primary mission is to provide accurate, friendly, and efficient support that empowers customers to confidently manage their financial records. Each day brings new questions and challenges, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys variety and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inbound phone-based customer support to individuals and businesses using bookkeeping and accounting software platforms, with a primary focus on QuickBooks Online and comparable tools.
  • Assist customers with core bookkeeping functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliation, chart of accounts setup, and general ledger management.
  • Guide customers through software navigation, helping them locate features, generate reports, customize settings, and optimize their workflow within the platform.
  • Troubleshoot technical and procedural issues, escalating complex cases when appropriate and ensuring timely follow-up to drive resolution.
  • Educate customers on best practices for bookkeeping accuracy, compliance, and software utilization to help them get the most out of their accounting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell relevant products and services that align with customer needs, always maintaining a consultative and customer-first approach.
  • Take full ownership of each customer interaction, demonstrating confidence, empathy, and professionalism in every conversation.
  • Document customer interactions accurately within the support system to maintain a clear record of inquiries, resolutions, and follow-up actions.
  • Stay current on product updates, feature releases, and industry trends to provide the most accurate and up-to-date support possible.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must bring a strong foundation in bookkeeping and accounting principles, paired with excellent communication skills and a customer-centric mindset. The ideal candidate is someone who can translate complex accounting concepts into simple, easy-to-understand guidance for customers of all skill levels.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven proficiency in QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting software platform, with the ability to navigate features, troubleshoot issues, and guide others through workflows.
  • Hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, including working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, reconciliation processes, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prior customer service experience, preferably in a phone-based support environment, either in a traditional call center or a virtual/remote setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, empathetic customer service over the phone while maintaining professionalism and composure.
  • Comfort with cross-selling and recommending relevant products or upgrades in a way that feels helpful rather than pushy.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability — you take control of situations and drive them to confident resolution.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with a friendly tone, professional demeanor, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Tech-savvy mindset with strong computer skills, including proficiency in navigating software, browsers, and support tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal education or certification in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field (e.g., associate’s or bachelor’s degree, Certified Bookkeeper designation).
  • Familiarity with multiple accounting software platforms beyond QuickBooks Online, such as Xero, FreshBooks, Wave, or Sage.
  • Experience supporting small business owners, freelancers, or self-employed professionals with their bookkeeping needs.
  • Previous remote work or independent contractor experience.
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) are a plus, though not required.

Skills and Competencies for Success
