Pharmacy Technician - Remote in Worcester, MA

About the position As a Pharmacy Technician at Optum, you will provide operational support to the Prescription department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of medication requests. This role involves direct communication with patients and healthcare providers, fostering teamwork, and maintaining a focus on patient safety and satisfaction. The position offers a hybrid-remote work environment after an initial training period, allowing for flexibility while addressing the challenges of medication management. Responsibilities • Provide operational support to the Prescription department location. , • Receive requests to process prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner to get providers' approval. , • Perform assigned prescription functions and duties in support of the prescription department. , • Take incoming calls and make outreach telephone calls to patients who have requested medication refills or renewals. , • Process medication requests following standard procedure. , • Check appropriate notes, pertinent lab results, and order labs that are required to support requests being pended for provider approval. , • Check if patients are up to date with appointments and book follow-up appointments that are required to sustain compliance with treatments. , • Select and pend correct medication, dosage, sig, and number of refills while selecting the correct pharmacy before agreements and updates accordingly. , • Process prior authorizations for medications that are not covered by patients' insurance. , • Perform tasks focused on fostering teamwork and dedication to patient safety and satisfaction. Requirements • High School Diploma/GED (or higher). , • Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Massachusetts. , • 1+ years of experience as a retail Pharmacy Technician. , • Ability to maintain MA Pharmacy Technician licensure. Nice-to-haves • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. , • Previous experience with Pharmacy management software and operational platforms.
